Studio & Gallery — Established 2009
Colour, worked until it settles.
Original paintings and works on paper by Linda Kane — and a small studio store of hand-made jewellery, greeting cards and prints.
The work
Sixteen years of putting colour down and taking most of it back off again.
Linda Kane paints in oil and acrylic on linen, board and paper. She works in long runs — a series will occupy the studio for a year and produce perhaps a dozen pictures worth keeping — and she works with a blade nearly as often as a brush.
Everything shown here was made by hand in the same room: the canvases, the small boards, the cards printed on the studio press, and the jewellery strung at the workbench in the corner. Nothing is licensed out and nothing is drop-shipped.

In the studio
“I would rather leave a picture too quiet than finish it too loud.”
The studio sits at the end of a lane behind a joinery, and has done since 2009. It is open to visitors on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays — no appointment, no pressure to buy, and the kettle is usually on.
